Though Hyrox was started in Europe, it's exploded worldwide and here in Australia, it's fast becoming a buzz everyone can't get enough of. Even the likes of CrossFit legends like Tia Toomey is taking part and taking 3rd in doubles competitions.
What really fires us up about Hyrox is that it's a fitness race for everyone, and it's not restrictive compared to sports like CrossFit. This form of fitness race pushes you to be better every time. But that's not the only reason why we think Hyrox Australia competitions are great.
Dive in with us to learn the different reasons why Hyrox Australia Competitions are so awesome.
8 Top Reasons Why You Should Take Part in a Hyrox Australia Fitness Race
While we mentioned one of them earlier, there are so many reasons why we love Hyrox and why more and more people are participating. Here are 8 more reasons to convince you to take part in a Hyrox:
1. Fantastic Community
First up, Hyrox is an inclusive fitness race where people attend not just to compete but also to support. At a Hyrox Australia Competition, you can expect to be cheered on, make a bunch of new friends and feel pumped to do more. The best part? Regardless of your fitness times you'll still be supported and pushed through by many friendly faces. Hyrox's camaraderie is like no other.
2. To experience the energy
Hyrox events in Australia are all about their electric atmospheres- packed with high energy, music, hype MCs, and a buzzing crowd that spreads massive halls, warehouses and arenas. Thousands of people show up not just to compete but to take in the vibe and watch.
They're mainly held in halls and large spaces where thousands of people come to participate and watch. We wouldn't be surprised if you find a few famous people, too; many people are turning to Hyrox; it's getting that popular. And can you imagine working out next to someone famous?
Why we love it? Hyrox gives a stadium like atmosphere making working out electric and super fun to do. Every rep is fun and really fun.
3. Accessible for all fitness backgrounds
We shared this earlier, but thought we would highlight again. Compared to other fitness competitions Hyrox keeps exercise simple with eight functional exercises (and runs) inclusive for everyone!
Many people do Hyrox from all walks of life, fitness levels and even those who are wheelchair bound! It's truly a race for everyone and anyone, so you'll never feel unwelcome or out of place.
Why we love it?
Mainly because many of the exercises contain functional movements that mimic everyday movement in life, meaning you're already familiar with them. You can just focus on pushing yourself, without having to learn complicated skills. It's real fitness that's accessible.
4. Tests multiple areas of fitness
There's a solid reason why people keep coming back to Hyrox time and again, and that's because it tests different areas of fitness. Hyrox tests cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, stamina and functional movements. Think about it, you're running 1km, then doing a functional workout, eight times over and you're pushing your body in many ways that really prove what you're made of.
5. Standardized format for fitness tracking
No matter whether you compete in a Hyrox Melbourne competition ,Hyrox Brisbane competition or even a Hyrox Sydney competition they're all the same. Every race, every time is the same format and can give you a baseline to keep coming back and testing yourself. With Hyrox, there's no surprises, it's just a pure, repeatable challenge that pushes you to level up everytime.
6. It builds mental resilience
At Go Nutrition, we love Hybrid training and how it tests you to the limits, especially mentally. Whether it's an ultramarathon, iron man or even an EMOM we LOVE it. If you really want to grow your mental threshold, another thing to add to the mix is a Hyrox. These gruelling workouts can push you to exhaustion (depending on how quick you finish) creating mental toughness and resilience.
7. Flexible participation options
Going back to Hyrox being inclusive earlier, there's multiple options you can choose on how to compete. You can compete solo, in a double (someone of the same sex or opposite) or even a relay of four. This means, if you want to try but are too nervous to do it on your own then you can always team up with others and share the workout.
8. Burns a lot of calories
While we don't like to focus our workouts around chasing calories, if you're looking to train for a serious burn, then Hyrox burns A LOT of calories. Depending on how hard you push Hyrox can burn up to 400-1500 calories per session. It's a complete full-body workout that, if trained regularly, can reduce body fat, build lean muscle, and improve agility and coordination.
Wrapping up Training Hyrox Australia Competitions
Overall, training for Hyrox events in Australia is fun, challenging and no doubt rewarding. Hyrox workouts test multiple areas of fitness, burn a lot of calories and require zero experience. Compared to other sports like CrossFit, the exercises aren't technical and can be picked up easily. If you're shy, you can always choose to partner up in a Hyrox workout with a friend and take part in a double, or even a relay!
